On April 30, 2024, Sirojiddin Muhriddin, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan met with Mr. Péter Szijjártó, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary.

During the meeting, the parties discussed actual issues of bilateral, regional and multilateral cooperation.

The sides noted the important role of existing instruments of bilateral relations, including the Joint Tajik-Hungarian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation and Political Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs in expanding and strengthening multilateral cooperation between two countries.

In the meeting, special attention was paid to regional security issues and the fight against modern threats. Cooperation between the two countries within the European Union was among the topics which was also discussed.

At the end of the meeting, the Ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of the Republic of Tajikistan and Ministry of Interior of Hungary on cooperation in the field of security and criminality counteraction, which undoubtedly strengthens joint efforts of two countries to combat terrorism, extremism and other types of financing crimes.

On 23 October 2023, in Luxembourg on, the sidelines of the Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Central Asia and the European Union the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Mr. Péter Szijjártó.

 

 

 

During the meeting, the parties discussed the key aspects of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Hungary, including in the political, economic and trade, education, environmental and energy spheres, as well as emphasized the importance of further strengthening of the legal framework between the two countries.

 

 

 

 

The Ministers have also signed the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation within the framework of the Stipendium Hungaricum Programme for the years 2023-2025. This Memorandum provides terms and conditions for the exchange of students and applicants of universities, as well as obtaining free education for Tajik students at the Hungarian universities.

On 24 March 2023 in New York on the margins of the United Nations 2023 Water Conference the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Mr. Péter Szijjártó.

At the meeting, the parties discussed issues of strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields, including supporting the initiatives of the two countries within the framework of international and regional organizations and addressing the challenges associated with climate change.

The parties also exchanged views on the global water agenda and the effective implementation of the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028”.

On March 1, 2023, on the sidelines of the Tajik-Hungarian business forum, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sharaf Sheralizoda has met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Adam Stifter.

During the talks, the parties have welcomed the business forum of entrepreneurs of the two countries and exchanged views on the current situation and prospects for the development of mutually beneficial relations between Tajikistan and Hungary in the political, economic and commercial spheres, as well as within the framework of international organizations.

The parties confirmed their readiness to further expand bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Hungary in all areas in the spirit of friendship and mutual understanding.

On March 1, 2023, a Business Forum of entrepreneurs from Tajikistan and Hungary was held in Budapest with the participation of representatives of public institutions, business circles and private companies of the two countries. Participants have discussed the issues of expanding trade and economic cooperation, attracting capital and implementing joint projects in priority areas.

The delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan was headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, Sharaf Sheralizoda, who, during his speech, along with a good level of friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and Hungary, underlined the role of further strengthening constructive relations between representatives of the private sector in the areas of agriculture, renewable energy, green economy, industry, modern technologies, pharmaceuticals, tourism, large infrastructure projects and other areas of cooperation of mutual interest.

Investment opportunities of Tajikistan were presented at the forum and Hungarian entrepreneurs were invited to start direct cooperation with Tajik companies, using the rich untapped mutual potential.
