Asfa Holding Board Chairman Asaf Atasoy included the following statements in his message;

The press sector, one of the most dynamic sectors of our age, has undertaken a multifaceted public duty such as providing people with accurate, impartial and objective news and information. As is the case all over the world, it is inevitable for the press, which provides public service in our country and province, to be free while carrying out its work. Knowing is the right of all of us. Freedom of the press must be protected for the right to know. Writing and speaking frees the press and us. I know the efforts of our press organizations, especially our local press and its employees, to fulfill their duties even under difficult conditions and I appreciate these efforts.

Freedom of the press is of great importance in ensuring that members of the press, who fulfill this important duty, can do their work freely. Freedom of the press and publication is an inseparable part of democracy. In addition to being an important tool for the effective participation of the masses in public life, press organizations also provide the opportunity for different views to be heard. In this way, society is encouraged to think and research, and it is ensured that the right conclusions are reached.

With these thoughts, I congratulate all members of the press operating in our province on May 3 World Press Freedom Day and wish them success in their work.

We condemn in the strongest terms Israel’s attack on the Gaza Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital today (October 30).

 

 

 

 

As all necessary information, including the coordinates of the institution in question – which is the only cancer hospital in Gaza – was shared with the Israeli authorities in advance, there is no explanation for such an attack.

 

 

 

 

The siege and these inhumane attacks, which aim to deprive the Palestinian people in Gaza of their most basic rights, clearly violate international law.

Israel must stop targeting Gaza residents en masse, without discrimination.

On October 20, 2023, Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan met with the heads of diplomatic missions of the European countries accredited in Azerbaijan.

 

During the meeting, the current state and prospects of affairs between Azerbaijan and the European states, regional situation after Azerbaijan’s recent counter-terrorism measures as well as the possible developments in the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace and normalization process were discussed.

 

 

 

Recalling Azerbaijan repeatedly raising the issue of the presence of illegal Armenian armed forces in its sovereign territories in different platforms since signing the November 10 Trilateral Declaration and it being the main source of threat against itself, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted the importance of the legitimate September 19-20 counter-terrorism measures of Azerbaijan for peace and stability in the region.

 

 

 

The announcement of the guarantee of the safety, linguistic, cultural rights of the Armenian residents living in the Garabagh region of Azerbaijan by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and start of the registration through reintegration portal to these ends were noted.

 

 

 

Minister has recalled that during almost 30 years of occupation, puppet regime didn’t allow any UN agencies to visit the area, however immediately after the conclusion of the counter-terrorism measures, Azerbaijan in coordination with the UN Office in Azerbaijan, has organized several UN missions in composition of which the representatives of Geneva and New-York Offices of the UN were included.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that now, since the Azerbaijan’s and Armenia’s independence, the historical opportunity has emerged in the region.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) committed a historical mistake through adopting the recommendation and resolution regarding Türkiye on 12 October 2023.

 

 

 

With this initiative, PACE is instrumentalizing judicial processes for politics and attempting to close the channels of dialogue. This is against the democratic values that constitute the reason for the existence of the PACE.

This irresponsibility of the PACE aimed at gaining visibility will be remembered with remorse in the future.

 

 

 

 

Türkiye, which is a founding member of the Council of Europe, regrets that the organization’s advisory body PACE has moved so far away from its objectives and values.

Multilateral political consultations will be held at the Deputy Foreign Ministers level in Istanbul on October 4, 2023, within the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Burak Akçapar will represent Türkiye in the consultations.

 

 

 

During the consultations, the participants will exchange views on the preparations for the 10th OTS Summit to be hosted by Kazakhstan, areas of cooperation on the OTS agenda, issues regarding the strengthening of OTS, and current regional and international issues concerning the Turkic World.
